During CinemaCon, Lionsgate and Blumhouse made a groundbreaking announcement, revealing their partnership to develop and produce a new movie in The Blair Witch Project franchise, marking the beginning of a multi-picture agreement between the two companies that aims to reimagine horror classics from the Lionsgate library.
This news comes twenty-five years after the release of the original genre-defining classic. Today, Adam Fogelson, the chair of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, along with Jason Blum, the founder, and CEO of Blumhouse, jointly made the announcement.
For the upcoming Blair Witch Project movie, Blum and producer Roy Lee will join forces once again, as Lee has previously worked on the 2016 film Blair Witch, the latest addition to the franchise.
